Endometriosis may present as nodules or adhesions. Adhesions stick together organs like the uterus, ovaries, and bowel. These are very difficult to detect but have to be diagnosed when mapping the individual spread of endometriosis. At Scanvio we are establishing a new medical standard for ultrasound-based diagnosis of endometriosis which will be directly implemented into our product.

In general, ultrasound data is much more difficult for machine learning models to interpret than, for example, CT or MRI data. Due to the free-hand motion, sonography is a very dynamic examination. Furthermore, the produced images are very noisy, which makes reading them challenging for both the operator and the algorithm.
